Privacy policy

What we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and how to make us delete it.

Before this page is published: the operator details below are marked like this and must be completed by Selatel's registered entity. Publishing a privacy policy that does not name the controller is not a valid notice, and both app stores check for it.

1. Who we are

Selatel is an international calling and mobile top-up service operated by [registered company name], registered in [jurisdiction] with company number [number], at [registered address]. That entity is the data controller for the information described here.

You can reach us about anything on this page at support@selatel.com.

2. What we collect

Only what the service needs to work. There is no advertising business here, so there is no incentive to collect anything beyond it.

WhatWhy
Your phone numberIt is your account. Sign-in is a six-digit code sent to it, so there is no password on file.
A display name, if you set oneSo the app can greet you.
Contacts you explicitly addTo show a name instead of a number. See section 4.
Call records — destination, time, duration, what it costTo bill correctly, to show your history, and because financial records must be retained.
Top-up records — amount, currency, processor referenceTo credit your balance and to reconcile with the payment processor.
Device and session data — a device identifier, session timestampsTo keep you signed in and to let you sign out everywhere.
The IP address a sign-in code was requested fromRate limiting and fraud prevention. Nothing else.

What we do not collect

3. Why we are allowed to

4. Your address book

Selatel never reads your contacts in the background, never uploads your address book, and never scans it to find other users. When you tap to add someone, the app opens the system picker, you choose, and only the entries you chose are saved — a name and a number. Everyone you did not pick stays on your phone.

Remove a saved contact in the app and its record is deleted from our side too.

5. Payments and cards

Card details never reach Selatel. Payment happens on the processor's own hosted page, on their domain. We receive a reference, an amount, a currency and a result — never a card number, and never a CVC. There is no card data in our systems to lose.

Our payment processor is [processor name], who handles that data as an independent controller under their own privacy notice.

6. Who else sees it

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. It goes to four kinds of recipient and no others:

7. How long we keep it

WhatHow long
Sign-in codesMinutes. They expire and are then unusable; only a hash is ever stored.
SessionsUntil they expire or you sign out.
Saved contactsUntil you delete them, or you delete your account.
Transaction and call-billing records[retention period — set with counsel; money-services rules commonly require five years], even after account deletion.

8. Deleting your account

You can delete your account from inside the app, under More → Account → Delete account. No email, no phone call, no retention offer.

When you do:

One thing survives, and you should know why. The financial record of what you paid and what you were charged is retained, with your personal details stripped out of it. Money-services rules require those records to be kept, and a ledger that can have entries removed is not a ledger. What is left is an amount, a date and a reference — not a person.

A balance blocks deletion. If you still hold credit, we will not close the account and quietly keep the money. Spend it or contact us to have it returned first.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or send it elsewhere in a portable form. Ask at support@selatel.com and we will answer within [statutory period for your jurisdictions].

Exercising any of these costs nothing and we will never degrade your service for it.

California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA, and we have not in the preceding twelve months.

10. Children

Selatel is not for people under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has an account, tell us and we will remove it.

11. Changes

If we change this in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect rather than quietly reposting the page.
