Before this page is published: the operator details are marked like this and must be completed, and the whole document reviewed by counsel qualified in [your jurisdictions]. This is a plain-language draft written to match how the product actually behaves — it is not legal advice and it has not been reviewed by a lawyer.
1. The agreement
These terms are between you and [registered company name], registered in [jurisdiction] with company number [number] ("Selatel", "we"). By creating an account you accept them. If you do not, do not create one.
You must be 18 or older.
2. Your account
Your phone number is your account, and signing in is a six-digit code sent to it. There is no password, which means there is none to steal — and it also means whoever controls the number controls the account. Keep the number secure and tell us immediately if you lose control of it.
One person, one account. Do not sell, share or transfer it.
3. Your balance is your money
Credit you add is yours until you spend it. It does not expire, it is not reduced by inactivity, and there is no weekly, monthly or dormancy fee. If we ever intend to change that, we will tell you before it happens and you will be able to spend or reclaim your balance first.
Balances are held in a double-entry ledger and every movement is recorded. You can see the whole history in the app.
Unused credit can be returned to you on request. Ask at support@selatel.com; we may need to verify your identity first, and we will return it by the method you paid with where possible. Bonus credit granted through a promotion is not withdrawable for cash — only credit you actually paid for is.
4. Rates and what a call costs
Calls are priced per minute, by destination and by the network the number is on. The rate is shown in the app before the call connects, and that shown rate is the rate you pay for that call.
We buy from wholesale carriers whose prices change, so published rates can change too. A change never applies to a call already in progress, and you will always see the current rate before you dial. We do not sell bundles, plans or minute packages, so there is nothing to auto-renew.
5. How we bill
Some destinations are billed to us in blocks of time rather than by the second — one second, six seconds or sixty, depending on the carrier. Where that happens:
- You are billed in the same block we are, and no further.
- The app tells you which block applies while you are on the call, not afterwards.
- We do not add an increment of our own on top of the carrier's.
The charge is written to your balance as the call ends. A call that never connects is not charged.
6. Top-ups and bonuses
Top-ups are processed by our payment processor on their own hosted page. Card details never reach us. A top-up is credited when the processor confirms the payment, not when your browser returns — so if you close the app mid-payment, the credit still arrives.
Where a promotion is running, its terms are shown with the offer. Bonus credit is granted in the same transaction as the payment that earns it, applies once per qualifying payment, and may be withdrawn from future offers at any time. Existing bonuses already granted are not clawed back.
If a payment is reversed or charged back, we may recover the corresponding credit and any bonus granted with it.
7. What we do not offer
Selatel does not transmit money. We do not offer remittance, money transfer, or the transfer of balance between users, and we will not until we hold the money transmitter licences that permit it. Nothing in the app or on our site should be read as an offer to move money on your behalf.
8. Acceptable use
Do not use Selatel to:
- make unlawful, fraudulent, harassing or abusive calls;
- generate artificial traffic to premium-rate or revenue-share numbers, whether or not you control them;
- terminate international traffic as though it were domestic, or otherwise route around a country's licensing rules;
- resell the service, or run automated or bulk dialling, without our written agreement;
- interfere with the service or attempt to access parts of it that are not yours.
We monitor for these patterns because they are how this industry is defrauded, and we may block a destination, suspend an account or refuse a call where we reasonably believe one is happening. Where we suspend an account, we will tell you why and your balance remains yours.
9. Service, and when it fails
Calls depend on your internet connection, on carriers we do not own, and on networks in the destination country. We do not guarantee that every call connects or that quality is uniform everywhere.
What we do commit to: if you are charged for a call that did not connect, or charged at a rate other than the one you were shown, tell us and we will refund it.
10. Not for emergency calls
Selatel cannot be used to call emergency services. It does not connect to 911, 999, 112 or any other emergency number, and it does not transmit your location to emergency responders. Always keep another way to call for help.
11. Ending this
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app, under More → Account → Delete account. Spend or reclaim your balance first — we will not close an account holding your credit.
We may suspend or close an account for a breach of section 8, for a legal requirement, or if we stop offering the service. Except where the law prevents it, we will give notice and return any remaining balance you paid for.
Sections 3, 12 and 13 survive the end of this agreement.
12. Liability
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that, our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to [cap — set with counsel; commonly the greater of amounts you paid in that period, or a fixed sum]. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, opportunity or data.
13. Disputes
Come to us first at support@selatel.com; most things are resolved there.
These terms are governed by the law of [governing law], and the courts of [venue] have jurisdiction. [If arbitration or a class-action waiver is intended, it must be drafted by counsel and disclosed conspicuously — several jurisdictions will not enforce it otherwise.]
Nothing here removes any right you have as a consumer under the law where you live.
14. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Selatel afterwards means you accept the change; if you do not, delete your account and reclaim your balance.
